If you are a BISP beneficiary, one question comes to your mind every three months — when will my payment come and how do I collect it? This guide answers every part of that question. We have covered the 2026 payment schedule, all the ways you can withdraw your money, what to do if something goes wrong, and how to protect yourself from the fraud that increases around every payment cycle.
What is BISP Kafaalat?
Kafaalat is the core programme of the Benazir Income Support Programme. The word itself means support or guarantee in Urdu — and that is exactly what it is meant to be for Pakistan’s poorest families: a guaranteed quarterly income that helps them manage basic needs like food, medicine, and school costs.
Unlike some other welfare schemes, Kafaalat has no conditions attached. You do not have to send children to school, attend any health sessions, or prove how you spent the money. It is given based solely on your household’s poverty status as measured by the NSER (National Socio-Economic Registry) survey.
As of 2026, Kafaalat supports over 9.3 million households across all four provinces, Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and the tribal districts. It is paid to the female head of the household — usually the mother or wife — which research shows leads to better use of the money for family needs.
✅ Who manages Kafaalat? The programme is run by the BISP secretariat under the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety. The Federal Government releases funds quarterly to HBL and partner payment channels, which then disburse to beneficiaries across the country.
2026 Payment Amount and Schedule
The Kafaalat payment for 2026 is Rs. 10,500 per quarter. This has remained the same throughout the year. Payments go out four times a year, roughly one month into each quarter.
| Quarter | Period Covered | Payment Released | Amount | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Q1 2026 | January – March | February 2026 | Rs. 10,500 | ✅ Released & Collected |
| Q2 2026 | April – June | May 15, 2026 | Rs. 10,500 | 🟢 Active — Collect Now |
| Q3 2026 | July – September | August 2026 | Rs. 10,500 | ⏳ Upcoming |
| Q4 2026 | October – December | November 2026 | Rs. 10,500 | ⏳ Upcoming |
⚠️ Important: Each payment is available for exactly 90 days after release. After 90 days, uncollected payments are returned to BISP and must be formally reissued through your tehsil office. Do not delay collection.
The Rs. 10,500 amount equals Rs. 3,500 per month when spread across three months. While it is not a large sum, for families at the poverty line it can be the difference between a child going to school or staying home, or a family eating properly through the lean agricultural season.
How to Check if Your Payment is Ready
Before making any trip to a payment point — especially if you live far from town — always confirm your payment is ready. Here are the three ways to do that:
Method 1 — SMS to 8171 (Fastest, No Internet Needed)
Open your phone’s SMS app. Type your 13-digit CNIC number exactly as it appears on your card but without any dashes or spaces. Send this message to 8171. Within a few minutes you will receive a reply in Urdu.
If the reply says ادائیگی تیار ہے (adaigi tayyar hai), your payment is ready. If it says ادائیگی جاری ہے (adaigi jari hai), it is still being processed — wait 2 to 3 days and check again.
Method 2 — Official Web Portal (Most Detailed)
Open your phone or computer browser and go to 8171.bisp.gov.pk. Enter your CNIC, solve the captcha, and press Search. The portal shows your full payment status including the specific payment point nearest to you. This is especially helpful if you are not sure which HBL branch or agent handles your area.
Method 3 — BISP Helpline
Call 0800-26477 free of charge, Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm. The operator can check your account directly and tell you your current payment status and assigned collection point.
💡 Our recommendation: Use the SMS method first — it is instant, works on any phone, and does not need internet. Use the web portal if you need to know which exact payment point is assigned to your area before travelling.
All Withdrawal Methods — Explained Clearly
BISP does not force you to use one specific bank. Depending on your area, you may collect through any of the following channels. Your 8171 reply or the web portal will usually tell you which one serves your specific address.
HBL Bank — The Most Common Method
Habib Bank Limited (HBL) is the primary BISP payment partner and has the widest reach. HBL processes the largest share of Kafaalat payments nationwide. You go to the branch, present your original CNIC, put your thumb on the biometric reader, and the cashier gives you Rs. 10,500 in cash.
Find your nearest HBL branch or designated BISP payment counter
In cities, most HBL branches handle BISP. In rural areas, HBL sets up temporary payment camps. The web portal shows your exact assigned point.
Go to the BISP or Social Protection counter
Most branches have a separate counter or designated times for BISP payments. Ask branch staff when you arrive — do not wait in the general banking queue.
Present your original CNIC and verify your fingerprint
The biometric reader matches your thumbprint against NADRA records. If your thumb is clean and dry it usually works on the first try. If it fails, try your other thumb or clean your hands.
Collect Rs. 10,500 cash and keep the receipt
Count your money before leaving the counter. The receipt you receive is proof of collection — keep it for at least one month.
Easypaisa — Best for Telenor Users
If your BISP account is linked to an Easypaisa wallet, the Rs. 10,500 is transferred directly to your mobile wallet when the payment cycle runs. You will receive an SMS notification from Easypaisa confirming the credit. You can then withdraw at any Easypaisa agent — there are over 200,000 agents across Pakistan.
The main advantage of Easypaisa is that you do not need to travel to a specific branch. You can withdraw at the nearest mobile shop, grocery store, or any retailer with an Easypaisa sign. Show your CNIC, the agent withdraws the amount, and hands you cash.
To link your Easypaisa to BISP, visit your BISP tehsil office with your original CNIC and your Telenor SIM registered under the same CNIC. This linking is free and takes about 15 minutes.
JazzCash — Best for Jazz/Mobilink Users
JazzCash works the same way as Easypaisa but for Jazz (formerly Mobilink) SIM users. Once linked to BISP, your payment is credited to your JazzCash account and can be withdrawn at any JazzCash agent across the country. Jazz has the widest network coverage in Pakistan, making this option excellent for rural areas where HBL branches may be far.
Pakistan Post Office — Most Accessible in Remote Areas
Pakistan Post has branches in hundreds of small towns and villages where commercial banks have no presence at all. For beneficiaries in remote tehsils, the post office is often the only realistic option. You go during business hours, present your CNIC, verify your biometric, and receive your payment over the counter in cash.
UBL and Bank Al-Falah — Selected Districts Only
Some districts are served by United Bank Limited (UBL) or Bank Al-Falah instead of HBL. The 8171 web portal or your SMS reply will specify if you are in one of these districts. The process is the same as HBL — CNIC plus biometric at the branch counter.
| Method | Best For | Requires | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|
| HBL Bank | Most beneficiaries | CNIC only | Nationwide |
| Easypaisa | Telenor SIM holders | Linked Telenor SIM | Nationwide |
| JazzCash | Jazz SIM holders | Linked Jazz SIM | Nationwide |
| Pakistan Post | Remote rural areas | CNIC only | Most tehsils |
| UBL / Bank Al-Falah | Specific districts | CNIC only | Selected areas |
What to Bring When Collecting — Full Checklist
- Original CNIC — the plastic card itself, not a photocopy. Photocopies are rejected by the biometric system. Make sure it is not expired.
- Your thumb — clean and dry. If you have rough or worn thumbprints from hard labour, clean your hands and try all fingers, not just the thumb.
- 8171 SMS confirmation — optional but useful. Show this if any agent questions whether your payment is ready.
- Patience — queues at payment points are longest in the first two weeks of each payment cycle, especially on Monday mornings. If possible, go midweek or in the second or third week.
⚠️ Never leave your CNIC with an agent for any reason. No legitimate BISP payment requires you to hand over your CNIC card. If an agent asks to hold your CNIC, refuse and report them to the helpline at 0800-26477.
Payment Not Available — What to Do
Sometimes you arrive at the payment point but the system shows no payment is available, even though your 8171 check said it was ready. Here is what causes this and how to handle it:
Biometric Verification Failure
If your fingerprint does not match NADRA records, the system rejects the transaction. This is not unusual — it happens because fingerprints can look different due to cuts, hard work, age, or dry skin. Try cleaning your hands and using different fingers. If all fingers fail, ask the agent to flag the issue and contact your BISP tehsil office for a manual verification override.
Expired CNIC
An expired CNIC causes automatic payment suspension. Renew your CNIC at NADRA immediately — the renewal takes 1 to 7 days depending on whether you choose normal or urgent processing. Once renewed, bring the new CNIC to your BISP tehsil office to reactivate your account.
Payment Not Yet Disbursed to Your Local Agent
The central BISP system may release payment 1 to 3 days before it actually reaches all local agents. If your 8171 check confirmed payment but the agent’s system shows nothing, wait 2 to 3 working days and try again. The funds typically reach all agents within the first week of each payment cycle.
Payment Already Processed (Unauthorized)
If the system shows payment was already collected but you did not collect it, report this immediately to the helpline at 0800-26477. This is a serious situation — it may mean someone else used fraudulent biometric data to claim your payment. BISP takes these cases seriously and investigates them.
Extra Payments — Taleemi Wazaif and Nashonuma
If your children go to government school or you have a child under 2 years old, you may receive extra payments on top of the Rs. 10,500 Kafaalat. These are separate programmes but they are credited to the same BISP account:
- Taleemi Wazaif — Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 3,000 per quarter per enrolled child in government school. A family with three school-going children can receive an extra Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 7,000 each quarter on top of Kafaalat.
- Nashonuma — Rs. 2,000 per month for mothers with children under 2 years or who are pregnant. Available in 19 specific districts.
These additional amounts are added automatically to your BISP account when you are enrolled in those programmes. When you collect at HBL or Easypaisa, the combined total is paid out together.
💡 Calculate your total: Kafaalat Rs. 10,500 + Taleemi Wazaif for 2 children Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 5,000 = a total quarterly collection of Rs. 13,500 to Rs. 15,500. Register your children for Taleemi Wazaif if they are not enrolled yet — see our Taleemi Wazaif guide.
Protect Yourself at Payment Points
The weeks around payment release are when fraudsters are most active. Here is what you need to know to protect your Rs. 10,500:
Agents Who Charge a “Commission”
Some payment agents — particularly in rural areas — deduct Rs. 200 to Rs. 500 from the payment as a “service fee” or “commission” before handing over the remaining cash. This is completely illegal. You are entitled to receive the full Rs. 10,500. Every rupee of it. If an agent deducts any amount, ask for a receipt for the deduction and report it to 0800-26477 with the agent’s name and location.
“Your Payment is Locked” Callers
You may receive a phone call claiming your payment is locked and you need to pay Rs. 500 to unlock it. Hang up immediately. BISP never charges any fee to release payments. Real 8171 SMS never calls anyone — it only sends automated text replies.
Fake Registration Before Collection
Some people set up tables near payment points claiming you need to “re-register” or “update your biometric” before collecting. This is fraud. Go directly to the payment counter with your original CNIC.
